Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance -The beer pours brownish copper color with a small head of tan foam. The head has a light level of retention, fading over time and leaving bits of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a sweet caramel and molasses smell mixed with a very brown bready aroma. Other aromas of toast and a bit of nutmeg and toffee are there as well, and with a bit of cherry and raisin, produce a rather sweet and inviting aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with sweet bready flavor with the sweet being a mix of toffee, brown sugar, and molasses and the bready being of a lightly toasted brown bread taste. At the same time there is a light bit of nut and some very light earthy hops both of which get a bit stronger as the taste advances forward. Some hints of pine and a touch of nutmeg join in, and with a very light woodiness, one is left with a sweet and malty, but rather balanced taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and heavy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the style and the flavors, the feel is rather nice and makes for a slower sipper, but still a dangerously easy sipper.
Overall – A rather nice robust brew with a great good balance of sweet and malt.

Pours a dark translucent brown color with a 1F tan head and moderate lacing.

Smells and tastes of toasted malt, alcohol, molasses and caramel with a lightly bitter boozy warm finish.

Medium heavy body with light carbonation. Lush syrupy mouthfeel.

This is a smooth, strong and sweet malty sipper.

Can. Date 11/15/22. Dark brown with ring and small island after somewhat fizzy loud pour. Earthy aromas of booze caramel maple syrup raisin and a light smoke. Sweet and boozy but the earthiness and the smoke stop it from being cloying. Medium-full body. Slick and low caro after the fizz off. Flavors are good by the don't blend because the texture and carbo are off. Pretty good anyhow.

From a can dated 11/15/22, Sampled Dec 3, 2022. It does not appear to be retired anymore.

The look is dark brown to about black under a modest, fading tan head.

The aroma is dark roasted malts, char, smoke, and a very basic floral backdrop.

The mouthfeel is medium or maybe better.

The taste is sweet and burnt actually, which may e a good thing. Smooth. Relatively clean finish. An easy take on the style.

Chocolate cola color with a 1F head in a Gordon Thistle glass.

Esters, toffee is weaker than in other Scotch ales.
The esters and flavors are enhanced with warming along with the bitterness.

Excellent body, just right for the style. Mild bitterness.

Overall: good Scotch ale. I was looking for more depth.
Pairs well with beef chili.
