8% abv simcoe and mosaic cryo hops
poured into a can glass 1 inch foamy head, nice retention and good lacing
color is hazy amber
aroma is citrus and tropical maybe a hint of papaya
taste is malty and fruity, there is a sweetness also
Mouthfeel is full with a slight burn at first and then sticky to smooth, there is a lingering burn on the tongue but it isn't astringent.
over all its relatively smooth for a DDH 8% beer. drinks pretty thick and smooth

Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 12/31/19. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a massive 2 finger head that leaves thick rings of lace with excellent retention. 4.25
Smell peach, honeydew, tangerine, biscuit, caramel, and apricot really well balanced. 4
Taste follows peach, ripe melon, tangerine, caramel, biscuit, and a gentle kiss of apricot, very little bitterness and nothing dominates. 4
Mouthfeel is soft, sticky not dry, rather full, and at 8% very easy drinking for such a full body. 4.25
Overall this is very nice, but not your normal NEDIPA lacking some extra haze, but still would recommend. Thanks @Tasterschoice Larry for this can.

Excellent pour with good head retention. Golden color, semi-cloudy.
The aroma isn’t strong: earthy, citrus.
Very smooth MF. A bit malty.
Excellent taste: a very different approach for the brewery. Very smooth taste of fruit., almost bready, and other unidentifiable flavors.
No astringency. This makes the beer. Ordinarily, I like a good astringent hoppy finish, but this is a departure from the norm.
I couldn’t drink cyro brewed beer on a regular basis- I enjoy astringency.
This is a pleasant change.

The last few demo tape beers from EABC have actually been quite good (even great at times; talking specifically about the Nelson-hopped IPA with wine grape juice here, mostly) for a brewery whose IPAs I've never been a big fan of, so I'm hoping this one continues that upward trend for these guys. This is a double dry-hopped DIPA with Simcoe and Mosaic "cryo hops." I've had mixed experiences with cryo hops, so this should be at least interesting. Sometimes, I've found that the cryo versions of certain varietals differs so much from the expectations we have of those varietals that they are kind of their own thing entirely. Anyway, on to the beer.
Pours a deep golden/honey color with almost no intentional "haze" to speak of. I mean, sure, it's unfiltered, but when held up to the light I can still see my fingers through it so it's definitely not a NEIPA (despite what the label says). Almost has an amber hue to it, with a good head formation of about two fingers at its highest point. Takes a while to settles down too, all while obscuring the surface entirely. Not sure why I expected this to be a haze-bomb, but it's always fun to see a clearer IPA tumble into my glass these days. Something about this still looks somewhat weird, though. It might be the "dirty" looking color or something. It looks a lot better when held to light than it does just sitting on my counter-top, that's for sure.
The nose is unusual, as well. I get some tangerine, pine resin, lychee, and light notes of melon and dankness with almost no hop aggression whatsoever. It doesn't really go much of anywhere, but something about it is enticing anyway. At least nothing here feels out-of-place, anyway. Tangy grassiness, grapefruit pith, and a bit of dark fruit in this as well. I'm perplexed as to what this could taste like, but definitely intrigued so far.
Yeah, this is a weird one for sure. I can't see them ever making it again... I think the core hop choices work here, for sure, but the flavors from the hops being "cryo" varietals make this odd. Almost punishingly-bitter grapefruit, floral/herbal liqueur, some syrupiness from the malts (I'm going to assume this at least uses some type of specialty malt, because it's at least 5-7 SRM darker than most IPAs these days), grassy funk, dank pine resin overtones, and an odd note of plum toward the end of the mid-palate. Tastes like a really clean yeast strain, too, with next-to-no chalkiness or ester production. Much more in line with a West/No Coast IPA than NE, but nothing inherently wrong with that of course. Very filling DIPA with a good complexity, it just isn't completely my thing. An interesting beer, but not one I'd have any interest in returning to.
