355 mL can from an LCBO six-pack; dated Dec 5 2017 and served slightly chilled. Reviewed on my phone.

Pours deep amber-orange in colour, with a hazy complexion that is positively rife with flakes of sediment which gradually accumulate at the glass' base. Two centimetres of soapy, cream-colored head gathers atop, dissipating to a modest-sized collar within a few minutes; a few scattered swathes of patchy lacing are also left behind. The aroma is sweet and spicy as you might expect from a warmer; caramelized sugar and honey pair quite well with the hints of cinnamon and ginger. Suggestions of candied orange also come through as it warms, as does a touch of alcohol.

A mostly malt-forward brew, with the spicy back end being the only major exception. The flavour profile starts and ends sweet, with caramel, toffee and honey notes buttressed by some doughy, lightly toasted malt on the front end. Ginger is also a big contributor, especially towards the finish, where it combines with subtle notes of cinnamon and orange peel. Lightly spiced aftertaste with very mild ethanol warming. On the generous side of medium-bodied, with middling carbonation levels that provide a bit of a bite; this works as a nice accent to the spicy finish. Fair drinkability for a strong spiced ale, though I don't think I'd want to drink it all night.

Final Grade: 3.72, a serviceable B grade. Anderson Winter is a solid warmer, though there's still some room to improve. I found the ginger to be a little too dominant, and the orange peel to be a bit restrained in comparison, while its overall sweetness is honestly a bit too much for me. Spiced beers have never been a big draw personally, but I enjoyed this one enough to try it again next year.
