Appearance: Poured with a thumb of heat that didn't lace but did stick around. The body is a nearly opaque cloudy amber that only reveals shadows of your fingers and makes the carbonation in the body indeterminate.
Smell: Yep that's predominantly caramel malt with some toffee malt in the background. Needing quite a bit of warming to bring that one note out, but it does eventually show up.
Taste: Caramel malt with maybe the slightest touch of straw that turns to a bit more of a richer toffee taste before a mild sweep of pine hops. The malt is clearly the star on this one.
Mouthfeel: Mixed malt aftertaste, the carbonation is milder but is done well and helps out the entire beer. Transisitioning is a nice buildup ending with modest hopping.
Drinkability: Settles down very well, and refreshing despite being medium bodied and never gets either too sweet or too bitter.
Final Thoughts: This is just an all around well crafted Marzen. It's not reinventing the wheel here, save that it's more malt forward then some I've had, but I mark that as a posistive. Thumbs up.
