355 mL can from the LCBO, included in an Anderson mixed pack. Reviewed from notes taken last winter. Dated Sep 11 2024 and served barely chilled.

Pours a hazy pale golden colour, a rough pour barely managing to generate one finger of loose, bubbly white head. Within ninety seconds, it has disintegrated entirely, save for a thin collar and some filmy wisps on the surface; delicate lace is deposited after each sip. Pineapple and orange on the nose, with lesser notes of piney, woodsy hops and indeterminate berries.

Ehh, it's alright, but none of the fruity hop flavours really pop. Muddled notes of pineapple, cantaloupe, tangerine and orange peel, with lots of wheaty malts in the background. Pine needles, woodsy hops and pithy bitterness dominate the back end, with resin and bitter citrus peel lingering into the aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with moderately low carbonation that brushes gently across the palate; smooth mouthfeel with fair drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. Of the four NEIPAs included in this mixed pack, I found Eclipse x Enigma to be the most disappointing. The Eclipse comes through well, but I didn't get much of the 'berries & tropical fruit' associated with Enigma - which is a shame, because the flavour profile really could've used something like that. I don't want to be misconstrued, so I'll clarify: this isn't necessarily a bad pale ale, I just don't think it's a good example of the New England style - too much pine & hop bitterness, and not enough juiciness. I'd give this at least one more shot if they brew another batch.

Pours an amber color. Lots of yeast floating around. Not much of a foam head. Not much lacing.
Some mild citrous peel aroma.
Taste is nice. There's some citrous zest along side some flowers. Easy to drink. Not too complex.
This is a pretty good one.
