355 mL can from the LCBO, included in an Anderson IPA mixed pack. Dated Jul 29 2025 and served barely chilled.

Pours a hazy golden-orange colour, fitted with more than an inch of bubbly, soapy white head that dissipates within a few minutes. Multiple strands of stringy lace are flung about in the process, which also leaves behind a frothy collar and a fractal pattern of film on the surface. I'm definitely getting pear and peach juice on the nose, with lesser notes of mango and orange also discernible.

The flavour profile starts out strong, but sort of peters out on the back end. Big notes of fresh pineapple, as well as hints of mango, wheaty malts, bread and orchard fruits; maybe a hint of orange juice, too. Resiny bitterness crops up later on, lasting into a fruity finish of pineapple & stone fruit that gradually fades from the tastebuds. Medium-full in body, with moderately low carbonation that gently prickles the tongue; feels smooth and somewhat juicy. Finishing this can was a piece of cake, and I think I'd have enjoyed a refill.

Final Grade: 3.9, a B+. El Dorado Single Hop is a solid-tasting brew that also demonstrates why this hop variety has become such a popular choice for IPAs over the last decade. The aroma was the highlight for me - I love a nice pear-forward hop profile - but sadly, I didn't really get the watermelon note that was advertised. The juicy flavours and fulfilling mouthfeel were also a pleasure to experience. Anderson produces a lot of IPAs, and I'm hesitant to rank this up there with their best work, but it's still a solid single hop IPA that is worth a look.
