a beautiful wild beer with blackberries, tons of character to this, and probably my favorite beer we had on our visit to this awesome taproom. its got a little color to it, but not as obviously fruity as so many other blackberry brews out there, but pretty and very lively from the tap, with a soft haze as well. aroma is killer, i smell sharp red wine right away, almost spicy oak character, this is barrel fermented and its taken a lot from the time in wood, not sure if red wine barrels were actually used, but i smell it for sure, blackberry and black cherry and some heavy tannins, also a nice light bretty funk to this without too much acidity it doesnt seem. the flavor has the fruit so well integrated, its surely blackberry, but it doesnt take over, rather it adds a cool layer to an already complex wild beer. funky newish brett, vanilla notes from the oak, more red and even port wine, a nice dry cereal grain medley, and just a little jammy aspect from the fruit. its delicious, its well carbonated, its super dry for having the fruit in it, and the yeast profile is unique. all good things! not to be missed if you make it in here when its on!
