i am over the moon that these guys are coming to idaho now, and especially stoked to see some kegs out there too, but this is one of their weaker offerings ive had to date, tastes tired and old, and feels that way from the tap, a funky ipa, but its not that funky nor that hoppy, and sort of wallows in a lazy french saison space, a little brett maybe, some metallic character to the grain side, a little oxidation, obvious hop fade, and whatever this once was, it isnt anymore, a shame, especially for folks who are getting introduced to whiner through this one, sloppy for them, but it isnt bad all things considered. there is a cool european vibe to the grain, a little honey character too. the hops are floral and grassy and old worldy too perhaps, but they are minimal for something calling itself ipa. its a little still too, which takes away from the good that is here. high minerals but they approach metals as it warms, iron and aluminum, not ideal. its earthy and i guess rustic a little bit, but its just not all that exciting, not real hoppy, and sadly the ferment isnt even cool. this is not what i have come to expect from these guys, but i bet it was better when it was first made...

12oz can from Woodland Empire. Dark golden pour, airy foamy head. Yeasty aroma, saison, honey. Hops bring a tingly bite to the saison flavors, Belgian yeast, butter, grassy. Quite nice.
