CAN
Moussy beige head that crusts over deep copper-amber; bread crust, biscuit, slight caramel on the nose with a ting of tin; deep sweet pastry malts, some more bread crust, toffee that almost goes butterscotch, a hit of grassy spice, some some pepper at the end; medium-bodied, smooth + clean.
4 x 5
So, this ain’t traditional. There’s caramel *and* crystal, and a bock - not weizen - yeast, plus it's probably too hoppy.
That means this ends up as a mishmash of the flavour (without the ABV) of a doppelbock + a blast of rye spice.
That said, this is rounded, well executed, balanced as well as super tasty + easy to drink. I still don’t totally get what Whiplash is trying to do with German styles, but this is a good one.
Lovely - if you’re not a stickler for style.
