Clingy taupe ring over ruby red; toffee, carob, candle wax, and pear on the nose; chocolate-covered cherries, dark rock candy, red pear, vague spice; sticky, round, medium.

Dark end of ESB - more ruby porter.
Over-indexed on dark malt and misses the 40-ish IBUs needed for balance.
But there’s some lovely ester nuance to play with.
A miss, but not an unpleasant one.
