Lagered Blonde
Beer we know; food, not so much. So we have been speaking to a number of food truck owners about coming by the brewery to complement the beer and give patrons a revolving choice of victuals. We’ve even built in special parking and power for them. Then we thought, "why not take it one step further?" So we brewed a beer built to complement great food. This easy-drinking, lighter beer is meant to spotlight, rather than compete with, tasty food-truck flavours.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Lot number illegible. My seventh beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and fourth for 2025. Adored by Gracie the cat...

A golden blonde, a little darker than you’d expect. I’m rating this beer 2 years out from the last review — either the formula changed or my beer might be a bit older, but it’s moderately hazy. Yet enormously long streaks of carbonation rise all throughout the glass, while tiny particles and bubbles are suspended and dance within the middle. It’s a strange, but very beautiful pour.
Light, crisp, gentle hints of floral hops and a taste and finish that give off a more complex feel than the crisp light bodied nature of the brew might suggest. A pleasant offering by Henderson, great to pair with food on a summer day. While any macro swill kinda fills that niche when you’re out on a humid hot day, this does so at a similar price point with a much more pleasant, genuine ‘beer’ experience.

473 mL can from Superstore; dated Mar 12 2019, listed at 4.8% and served slightly chilled.
Pours crystal clear golden-blonde, with one finger of frothy white head that fizzles off within two minutes' time. A few swaths of lace have been scattered in its midst, with a modest, foamy collar also staying in place. Looks fine, but there's nothing of particular interest on the nose - mostly just grainy, gritty pale malts, with some crackery cereal sweetness and slight hints of grassy, floral hops. Apropos for the style.
It's a serviceable swilling sort of beer - emphasis on the grainy pale malts, with cereal sweetness and apple juice also coming through pretty clearly. More grain and doughy, bready malts on the back end, with only some light notes of grassy, floral hops competing for attention. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that impart a crisp, refreshing bite to the mouthfeel; extremely drinkable, and not interesting enough to be good for anything else.

Another tallboy, this time from the LCBO. Haven't had this one in a few years! Not getting as much apple as last time, which is indicative of a fresher sample. Henderson's Food Truck was designed for washing down some truck grub, and it fills that role exceptionally well. I wouldn't call it a great blonde ale, lagered or otherwise, though I would take it over most macro beers if it were priced accordingly. This sort of beer can be hard to perfect, because there's nowhere to hide any potential faults (not that there's any to mention in this instance). I'd buy it again, but I wouldn't seek it out. No need to change its grade.
Final Grade: 3.53, a B

473 ml can from the LCBO poured into a wide pilsner glass from the fridge.
A: Light golden colour, thing white head that does't last very long.
Intense carbonation at first, almost like a soda.
S: Bright citrus notes, Orange and lemon peel. A little bit of a bready smell.
Tiny bit of mineral smell.
T :Little bit of tart citrus, followed by some hoppy bitterness.
Quite dry on the finish. Leaves some bitterness on the palate.
Getting a little malt, but not as smooth and balanced as I expect
from the style, too bitter overall for my personal taste.
F: Creamy mouthfeel, and quite carbonated, which I don't find unpleasant.
O: Nothing that I would actively seek out again, due to the fact that the flavour
profile is unbalanced for me.

Bright golden yellow under a decent white head. Settles to a thin ring, no meaningful lace. Soft nose dominated by malt, a whiff of grassy hops. Also soft on the palate with a bit of sparkle in the finish. Grassy hops to taste on a basic malt backbone. Really just ordinary stuff, but better than macro

Poured from 473ML can:
A: Light Golden colour, clear, white head - moderate retention, nice lacing
N: bread crust, hint of citrus, more like creamy citrus, some floral notes, didn't get much on the nose
T: very light bitterness, creamy yet fresh, lightly malty , some tropical notes in the back (mango and pineapple), a bit of sweetness, light body
Finish is short, but very pleasant .Nicely balanced beer.
