what an honor it must have been to win the sam adams longshot competition. this beer seems worthy, and i enjoyed it tremendously from a crowler filled the previous day at the brewery. its electric red in color, no denying its fruited! soda like bubbles but not much head, mostly clear for the style through the red. it smells great, sweet fresh pureed raspberries, less of the tartness from the fruit, which is okay because there is a significant mouthwatering lacto pucker to this, lemony and nice with the fruit in the nose, very appealing. the flavor of the raspberries is bold in the taste too, incredibly fruity, with still some sweetness, likely intentional to balance out the above average acidity in the style. its complex for what it is, some real nuance from the yeast, and the fruit flavor lingers long on the tongue. i wish it had more body. the carbonation is great, but we almost lose the fact that this is a beer. i mean, it doesnt have a ton of grain flavor to it, and without any real structure, it seems as much like soda as an ale. that said, the flavors work really well, and these guys should be proud of this one. all the beer at boiler was very good, go check it out!
