A Tavour Treat. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of dark fruits and roasted malts. Taste is tangy; slightly spicy. Crisp and dry.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark reddish/orange brown with a two finger khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark malt with a hint of toast, brown bread, hints of cocoa and nuts. Flavor is dark, slightly sweet malt, brown bread, nuts, and mild dark dried fruit. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Somehow ended up with two Munich dunkels in the last few weeks and glad I did. This is not a common style to find in the US, even as a German import, and I'm pleased to see a few domestic breweries producing it. This version is a little less malty than the one I had last week, but hits all the high points of the style; mildly sweet dark malt, dark fruit, bread and nuts. Pleasant and easy to drink; to-style. Good introduction to this brewery.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark, dark brown pour, thin beige head. Looks more like a schwarzbier. Toasty malt aroma, nutty, woody. Taste is sweet, nutty, brown bread. Nice full body with a smooth consistency.

served in a snifter at the tap room, this was one of the few "classic" styles on their list and I thought it was pretty good, though it was a little more hoppy and crisp than I think a dunkel should be. Some nice pronounced bready notes, as well as a little gentle chocolate, but I'm not sure I'm getting the munich maltiness as much as other kinds o breadiness. Substantial mouthful and finished clean.

Pretty, dark auburn color. Medium roasted grain, malt and caramel like aroma. Caramel malt, a bit of spice and the slightest medium toasted wood in a rounded way, during the taste. Medium thick, off-dry mouthfeel.
