Brooklyn Unfiltered is a sterling example of a "keller pilsner," a smooth, hazy style with its roots in the earliest days of lagering. Our take is brisk and gently bready with a well-tuned smooth finish. Take it with you to the dinner table, the after party, and anywhere in between.
If you pick up a bottle of Brooklyn Unfiltered and notice a layer of fine sediment inside, don't worry. Some settling can occur during storage as the yeast and malt haze falls to the bottom. Give it a quick swirl or a steady pour into a glass to mix it up, and enjoy.
Style: Unfiltered Pilsner
Malts: 2-row, Wheat malt
Hops: Saaz, Saphir, Hallertau
Yeast: Our House Lager Yeast

Very easy drinker. Not much smell to it. Good taste for a pilsner. Would buy again except for the price of $11/6pk. Would rather have a cheap mass produced beer

Almost clear, golden color. Malt and grassy hops in the aroma. Taste follows the aroma. Decent, hoppy bitterness.

Pours a somewhat hazed gold with2 fingers of pearl colored head. Average head retention & lacing
S: Bready, not much else
T: Grassy, leafy hops, a little dryness up front along with some grainy notes up front. Grainyness turn a little
astringent as this warms, plus dryness & grassiness. Finishes dry with bready & cereal notes, a little lemon as well
MF: Medium body, dialed back carbonation, decent balance
A decent stab at the style, some astringency detracted, just not quite delivery a full spectrum of flavors for the style

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of lemons, malts. Taste is the same as the aroma, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer that I probably would have enjoyed better a few days ago during a heat wave.

Pours a clear dark straw color with good long lasting head. Smells malty like a pilsner does. Tastes the pilsner taste, but has a hidden bite to it. Maybe a bit hoppy. Mouth feel is kind of watery, like most pilsners. Aftertaste is malty and has some residual hop feel. An above average brew, kinda harken back to the pilsners if my youth.

12oz bottle. Poured out a slightly hazy, golden yellow color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of caramel malt, floral notes and hints of fruit. Sweet toasted caramel with a subtle grassy bitterness.

Brooklyn Brewery "Unfiltered"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle; best by coding is illegible
Notes via stream of consciousness: Brooklyn consistently produces high quality beers so this should be an easy review. I've poured about half of the bottle and let it rest and the head is holding up quite well. The final pour has brought up and inch-plus head of white atop a hazy golden body. Bubbles can be seen streaming quickly upwards within. The aroma, and I hate to say it because it sounds so stupid, smells like beer. It's that combination of grainy malt and hops that takes me back to the very first beer I smelled as a child. It's grassy, spicy, and mildly herbal. On to the flavor... well what did you expect? I won't say it tastes like beer! But yes, it tastes like beer - like a quality Pilsner. The grainy Pilsner malt is there, lightly sweetish and bready, and the hops are nicely threaded through that with notes of herbs, grass, spiciness, and a spritz of lemon. I'm not sure how much the lack of filtration helps here but I'm guessing it's left it a little bit softer than if it had been filtered and given a standard carbonation level. This is fine-bubbled and a bit restrained. It's medium bodied and smooth. The malt is nicely balanced by the hop flavors and the bitterness, and it finishes dry and refreshing, leaving your palate ready and waiting for the next sip. I personally find it very drinkable and I could see drinking this at any time of the year, although it really screams "summer" to me. It reminds me of the scene in "The Shawshank Redemption" where the guys get to drink "icy cold Bohemia style beer".

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a moderate head. Head soon dissipates but displays a layer of film and lacing.
In the nose I first detect a hops presence with serious notes of grass, herbal and onion like, lemon, and then, some floral notes to add some sweetness to the aroma. The malt aroma evokes bread and biscuit with a touch of honey.
Clean tasting with a gentle and clean hops bitterness. Flavors of bread, dry cracker and biscuit provide more of a backbone rather than sweetness, although towards the end I detect a subtle honey and caramel. Hops flavors evoke grass, spice, lemon and wood.
Medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel and clean finish. Carbonation is moderate.
This is a nice and easy to drink clean lager. I will look to get more of these as the weather warms since I found it refreshing.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 6/2019. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, cracker, wheat, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of pale/wheat malts and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, cracker, wheat, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, wheat, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale/wheat malts and earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an excellent keller pilsner. All around great robustness and balance of pale/wheat malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced between clean pale/wheat malts and German noble hops. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected of the brewery.

A slight hint of skunk in the aroma but it doesn't translate through to the taste. Pours a golden yellow without much of a head, no lacing going on here. Malty with a nice hoppy twang but has a slight metallic taste on the end. Overall a pretty decent pilsner, I enjoyed it.
