4/26/18 @ Katz’s Delicatessen (might as well review it while I’m sitting here). Pours a see-thru medium brown, thin cap of tan foam, fills a shaker pint to the top, thanks to the counterman who then scribbles what I owe on the ticket I was handed on the way in (“don’t lose your ticket” is the Katz’s mantra). Aroma, well, it smells like beer. Taste is nut brown ale all the way. Not assertively hoppy like Brooklyn Brown Ale, but no complaints here. A faint bitterness/nuttiness lingers just long enough to satisfy. Medium mouthfeel, carbonation is just right for the style (and presumably just right for washing down one of the monster sandwiches I see going by). Overall very good, and I definitely would try it again. Sitting here in this iconic NYC restaurant, drinking this exclusive beer, it feels like I’m in on a little secret. Plus it’s super cool just being here.

Brewed exclusively for Katz Deli in NYC. The perfect beer to wash down a pastrami sandwhich from this awesome place. The beer is a dark amber color whith a rich and subtle ale taste. Awesome beer!

Had this on tap at Katz's Deli as I wanted to try this place out finally. Saw they had the Brooklyn logo on the tap handle and figured I'd give it a try (plus, nothing else looked interesting). The beer pours a dark amber-brown colour with thin white head. Some lacing on the glass, but the head dissipates fairly quickly. Smells of toasted caramel malt, hint of hops and very mild chocolate. More sweetness to bitterness in the flavour. This works very well with deli sandwiches.

Pours dark brown like dark black tea transmitting little light except at the edges. Very little tan head. Smell is of sweet malt and a bit of nuttiness, and the taste follows this profile to the 'T' with roasted caramel malts that stands up very well to Katz's amazing pastrami. The sweetness and full body of the beer is just right for the food pairing. This is a beer made to pair with deli food.

Yes. I went to Katz's to have a beer.
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is malty sweet. Flavor is sweet too and a bit too much so IMO. A bit cloying on the mouth. Smooth carbonation and a good liquid feel. Overall not too bad really. Nothing to go out of your way for, but it's good enough.
