among the more interesting beers ive had in awhile and the first new one ive had from brooklyn in way too long, i still love these guys, even if they dont get the hype they used to. super clever blend here, a coolship ale fermented in a barrel blended with a rice based farmhouse ale, pretty neat. the brew is golden blonde with a short but fizzy white head from the tap, almost clear but not quite. it smells real complex but in a subtle way, oak and white wine up front, some wild bretty funk, white pepper spiciness, and fruitiness of green pear, green grape, and apple, its layered and different, the rice keeps it light and maybe adds a little earthy mineral thing, but its minimal in aroma, while the oak barrel and wild yeast side of this is awesome, definitely a spontaneous funk to it all. the flavor is great, lighter overall than it smells, and all the funk is on the back end so there is lots of space earlier for the starchy rice and the sweety woody notes to meld. i get dried flowers, pale wheat, vinous oak, and more brett than bacterial tang, nice mix of flavors overall and as a whole extremely light and drinkable, even delicate and elegant, weird but cohesive blend with the rice based saison in the mix. the fermentation profile is fantastic, and this is sure to age extremely well, except i do not know if they packaged it at all or not. hoping they did, i really was impressed by this. nice to check in with brooklyn again after some time away, still got it!
