Hamilton's Federalist Ale is a City Tavern exclusive; we also made some for the Hamilton Musical. In the style of the common man's ale, this pale ale is brewed with Pilsner malt, crisp & hoppy with citrus flavors & aromas.

This is an okay beer. Hops forward, but a decent malt balance. Not particularly complex or interesting. I'm not a huge fan of Yards other than the ESA they don't even bottle anymore and the Jefferson, and this doesn't really change my mind.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the City Tavern in Philly. The appearance is a cloudy amber with a large white head. The aroma is piney hops. The taste follows the nose.

Seems more than appropriate to have a draught ale at City Tavern on the 100th Anniversary of the NPS! Not sure of the authenticity of the recipe, but a beer I'd drink with regularity. Just enough body, vibrant hop attributes (citrus and floral), nice crisp clean finish that doesn't linger. Well done Yards!

Poured from a bottle into a tulip style glass while sitting at the City Tavern having dinner.

Appearance is a dark golden almost amber in color with a nice one finger white head. No glass lacing.

Aroma was tremendous with loads of lemon, citrus and grassy notes mixed in with some bready malt. Great hoppy nose.

Taste is similar to the nose with loads of lemon, some pineapple, grapefruit and grassy flavors. The malt is very bready but no doubt there and provides some nice body. Finish is clean and crisp and bitter. Nice beer.

Overall this is a really nice pale ale and I think I actually enjoyed it more than their Philly PA which is an everyday lineup beer. Looks to be like a rotating/seasonal, but I'm glad I got to try it.

White head. Clear pale golden yellow.

Grassy hops. Light citrus. Bready, pale malts. Earthy with a bit of spiciness. Think of sazz hops.

Mouthfeel: crisp and clean. Almost pilsner like. Ends clean.

Overall, I like it. The citrus is nice. Definitely reminds me of a pils more than anything. Very easy to drink.
