last beer from my belgian connection.. sad to see the stash dwindle so!
12oz beer.. stubby bottle with red and green label featuring a country map (belgium? i was not a geography scholar) overlaid with an image of a wild boar. swords crossed. looks like this is some sort of wacky war related beer. word 'resiste' printed on the bottle reminds me of resistance.
pours a golden yellow with slight fizz, head disappeared so quick i didnt even get a look. reduced to large bubbles making a ring, thin in appearance. aroma is yeasty with a musty, herbal ring to it. some butter. belgian pale through and through.
taste starts off very, very hoppy. light body encourages a big sip and the brisk, earthy euro hop feel jumps out in full force. big flavor with not much bitterness or cheek puckering resistance. musty in the end with lots of earthy tree bark, dirt, and mellow, even bready quality in the finish. can even detect mild farmhouse funk to this beer.
definitely different, along the lines of most new belgians i've tasted.. far away from the likes of most trappist breweries and experimental with flavors and ingredients. perfect for fans of de ranke, not exactly my cup of tea. enjoyable nonetheless.

BB 08-05 or 07. Good presence with forever lasting head and nice pale golden beercolor, lilte foggy. Very spicy hoppy nose, partly old hops. Good farmhousenose and litle bretty with it makes it a enjoyable nose overal green, grassy and dry. Not much malts and wheat detectable over this huge hoparome that's very plesant. Taste is very dry and bitter, spiced, litle salty, full and a slight sournote to round. Yes this is good saison and very plesant in the mouth. Easy drinkable and very refreshing brew.
