Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark ruddy burnt orange color close to muddy brown. No head nor lace. The aroma starts off with a sweet caramel malt with some bisccuits and earthy bitter hops. Some leather as it warms. The flavor proceeds with the same sweet caramel malt. Earthy bitterness comes back. Aftertaste has a sugary malty sweetness with a quick earthy wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a light spritz from the carbonation. Earthy bitterness makes a gripping presence in my tongue. Overall, weird DIPA, almost as if it wants to be an English styled Imperial IPA. Nice to try but can’t see myself coming back to.

DATE: June 22, 2017... OCCASION: a nice day ending with another of Jeff's summer assignments to rate... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick... pours a hazy, non-filtered looking copper-colored body and a slow-bubbled center... its white head settles nicely into a balanced quarter-finger... brilliant mango and grapefruit impact the nostrils, with apple, honey, lemon grass and aromatic spring flowers, with enough earthiness to suggest a nice balance... unbelievably smooth for a DIPA, though its weight is somewhere in the middl... lively but not overpowering... the flavor profile is strong, with mango, grapefruit, apple, pear, and slight bread malts make for a balanced, strong experience... a pleasant, smooth, appropriately balanced and drinkable--on the whole, a satisfying brew that invigorates without overpowering the tastebuds...

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with one and a half finger head that dissipates to a halo. Some lacing.
Aroma of pine, flowers, honey, tangerines. Quite floral to me overall in the nose.
Tastes of honey/nectar, flowers, pine, orange rind, tangerines. Little sweet up front, moderate bitterness on the finish.
Medium bodied, fairly smooth, moderate tingly carbonation, a little heat from the alcohol despite 7.5%.
It's a tasty IPA, lots of tangerine/orange flavors with a nice floral hoppiness. Not amazing but different and well worth trying to me.

TROUT RIVER ARBOR KNOT DIPA 3/8/17
Canned 10/13/16 so this has some age on it, which might explain why it was on sale for $9.50/4.
Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Tree House stemmed tulip.
a: Translucent orange with a half finger thick white head which receded to thin even surface foam and patchy lacing.
s; Citrus and pine.
t; Follows the nose with intensity and some grape notes over a light to medium biscuit malt base. Bitterness lingers on the dry finish.
m; Light side of medium, good body and heavy carbonation tingle.
o; A powerful-tasting DIPA which could easily cover a higher ABV than this has. Bitterness grates a bit at first (even for this experienced DIPA lover) but retains attention and becomes genuinely enjoyable.

A: hazy; deep gold in color; less than a 1 finger ivory head that receded to a thin collar; little lacing;
S: mostly pine, but a little earthy and citrus in the background;
T: balanced between earthy and pine from start to finish; malt backbone is solid; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish;
O: good, but I liked the aroma more than the taste;

The DIPA has a nice gold cloudy look to it. Not a lot on the nose faint citrus with a touch of pine. Taste is OK not grabbing but pleasant. Feel and look are the best parts of this. This does not stand out and say come look for me but a good beer.

This is a hoppy DIPA. It's reminiscent of Hop Stoopid or Wipeout, two classic West Coast IPAs in my book.
I noticed "sedimentation". If you agitate your can, you'll stir up settled flavors, if you like that.
Nice "raw" IPA - - I like it.
