Our version of this classic Belgian farmhouse Summer ale is dry hopped with Sorachi Ace to give a pleasant lemon character that compliments the subtle blueberry flavor. This saison is a tad fruity with peppery notes from the fermentation on the nose and palate. This beer finishes dry and clean.

I could not finish this beer either time I attempted to. It’s just disgusting.

Treated as a saison, this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance had a bright and semi-hazy yellow color with a finger's worth of white foamy head glistening off in a delicate way. Just a little bit of concave lace.
The aroma had a wonderful blend of sweet and tart blueberry flesh and skin pouncing upon light Belgian yeasty notes then underscored by some black pepper and grassy hops.
The flavor yields to the blend of sweet and tart blueberry initially but develops a nice balance to the Belgian notes as it warms. Hint of sour note on the back end. Slight lemon. Mild aftertaste of Belgian bready yeastiness, black pepper and blueberry.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Good sturdy carbonation with an appropriate ABV to it. Finish had some black pepper, colorful lemon and a sweetness of blueberry.
Overall, to me it seemed like a drier and crisper version of Crooked Stave's Petite Sour Blueberry. I'd love to have this again. And possibly Trout River's best beer to date!

Pours a light golden blonde hue with a thick head into my glass. Faint blueberry in the nose with a strong whiff of belgian yeast. Very strong upfront with blueberry, fruit leather and a tart finish. Mouthfeel is ok but something doesn't feel right. Very dry. It's too bad this doesn't feel more quaffable as I quite appreciate the Suessian reference.

From the one pint can with no noticed date stamped on it. Sampled on August 1, 2018.

Yellow pour with a chill haze and fizzy white head that fades fast.

The blueberry notes are there in the aroma right away along with a toasty, grainy malt sweetness. Maybe a slight fruity hop presence.

The body is light to medium.

The taste tends to bring out the grainy part first with the blueberry presence fairly prominent and lingering. I was not enthralled by it but I'm not a big fan of blueberry beers anyway.
