Sampling a crowler picked up at the brewpub recently. The can is cellar temp and I am pouring into my snifter. The beer pours a rich chocolate brown color with some light tan lacing. The aroma is some roasted malt and dark chocolate and some light coffee notes. Malty nose, no hops.
First sip reveals a velvety smooth texture with medium body and mild rolling carbonation that caresses my palate.
The flavor is roasted malt prominent with a little sweet chocolate and again coffee notes on the finish. I dont get any hop character and the ABV is completely hidden on this very drinkable beer. A nice malty stout that is easy to drink and pleasing for this malty.
Nice job Jeff!

Had on tap at Brewport last night into a shaped pint glass. Pours inky black with a thin tan head that has decent retention and some lacing.
Smell is pretty forward on chocolate malts, bready, sweet, notes of molasses. Flavor-wise this is more porter than stout, it's got some chocolate notes, hints of molasses, dark bread, slight bitterness in the end with some earth. Mouthfeel is prickly and a bit thin.
Nice beer coming out of Brewport, a bit like BAR pizza in New Haven with a better quality beer. Worth a try!
