Sampling cellar temp 12 oz can poured into a snifter. Beer given to me by the brewer Jeff Browning Jr. Thank you!
Beer is a deep mahogany color with garnet highlights. Some streams of lazy carbonation rise to the surface. a 2 cm creamy beige head foams up after a gentle pour. The foam fades slowly to sturdy surface layer after the pour, and this remains through the sampling.
The aroma is some toffee and a mix of red grapes and some plum too. I also get a little bit of cracker grainy malt note and hints of grassy hop.
First sip reveals an average body with fine and tingly carbonation. The texture is smooth and the beer drinks pretty easy.
Flavor is lots of toffee and biscuit and cracker malts. I get a bit of chocolate and some dark fruits again. With a bit of plum and raisin coming through on this brew. I do get some faint grassy hop character, but this is malt forward brew and the ABV is hidden making it highly drinkable. A nice strong ale from Brewport, although a little more booze would make this one even better IMO.
