My first from Fischingen, I went on their website. And they have an English button ! While that shows a desire to expand their market and a technical show of cosmpolitanism, the site could be more informative about why the principals of the firm feel they are carrying on the history of the monks brewing in this building so it seems more than a marketing ploy commonly used by others. But Fischingen does seem to be a labor of love of one man who has instilled a level of technical ability in this remote village.... which deserves a bigger market. For all this, I give Fischingen very good Overall Hugs.
Pilgrim Amber has a pretty color, but a more lively yeast would help keep its foam. Smells mostly of mild malt. Tastes are balanced, in fact the hops come quickly in mid-palate. (I'm a malt-head and prefer the hops to linger only at the end.) But the hop level is good if they want to expand Amber's market; it's also consistent with the American Amber style. Almost medium-mouthed. Prost !
