The bartender informed me that this beer was made with 1/5 apple cider.
20 oz shaker glass with a clear, yellowish gold body, zero head, and served quite cold.
Aromatics were lacking any noticable apple aroma, with only a faint cidery hint stepping forward. Barely a trace of malt, fruity esters, or hops. Fairly watery with a trace of tart cider.
Light bodied with mild carbonation. A crisp and thin mouthfeel.
Extremely light malt, faint apple cider, and a firm, almost astringent biterness start the palate. The base beer that was blended with the cider tastes like it may have been a light lager, and is thin and watery.
Finishes quite drying and bitter with a hint of appleskins and seeds.
I was very excited to see something new and unusual on the draught list, but this one was not very enjoyable. Basically tasted like a Coors light with some crushed appleseeds.
Too bad, because places like the Moat need to go out on a limb more with hybrid styles, big beers, etc. This one just didn't do it for me.
