A pale to amber colored Belgian inspired ale with yeast highlights of spice and fruit. The addition of Belgian candy sugars adds potency and crispness and a wonderful caramel tone to this seasonal ale.

Draught @ Brewpub: this one pours a hazy golden color. There was a this white head on it that left some lacing. A little bit of a lighter nose for a tripel, but still good. Clove, banana, some wheat and lemon. The taste is good. Clove, lemon, wheat, some banana. A decent tripel.

Pours a two finger light cream head that fades quickly traces of lace. Light hazy amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet fruity nose, flavor is sweet fruit, pear? smooth. Higher ABV is hidden. $12.00 for a 22oz bottle from Moat Mountain Brewery North Conway, NH.

Everything was as expected when I carefully removed the cap off the bottle.
Beer sprung to life overflowing the bottle-- but I had my glass ready.
Poured as I expected-- no surprises-- for a hand crafted small batch beer of this style.

Mild nose-- but produced a bucolic mix of yeast notes, some hops, some what I call "wild flowers", malt's in there too--

Flavor-- same as the nose. This tripel is light weight-- I see "Tripel" on the label and that sets my expectations. this is a nice beer, but it's a light weight triple. I wouldn't call it a Tripel--
It's got the basic foundation of a triple-- or rather a Belgian style ale, but it doesn't have the flavor weight or "stance" that I expect of a Tripel. In my opinion it's an "economy" Tripel.

Mouthfeel is cordial.

Overall-- an enjoyable beer-- goes down smoothly and has enough character that I could put down a pint or two.. just-- if it only had a larger balls ..

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

Appearance: Hazy amber color, no head except a very thin ring arounf the glass.

Smell: Cloves, malts, banana.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth, but thicker. Medium bodied. Taste of alcohol upfront with heavy clove/banana flavors and some malts in there too.

Overall: I expected better from Moat Mountain, this is the first beer of their's I have not liked. Not having good luck on my end with Tripels lately for some reason. I will not buy this one again.

Bomber, no dates.

Pours a dark, unfiltered gold with a very small head. Too dark and not enough head or effervescence for the style.

Aroma is complex, but has some off notes. Lots of fruity-estery goodness, rich malt, and booze, reminds me of Bananas Foster. There's a weird burnt character, and too much caramel malt.

Sweet, malty and under-attenuated. Too much heavy malt flavor, practically syrupy. No spice, though some vanilla and other pleasant yeasty notes. Mouthfeel is woefully under-carbonated and just sits on the tongue, compounding the sweet, syrupy nature of this beer.

Started off okay, but this beer bombed the Tripel test. Disappointing.

22oz brown bomber with a bottle and batch # on the label.

LOOK: Peachy golden, thin lacing

SMELL: Star fruit, cotton candy, medicinal herbs, chalky yeast, warming esters, floral hop, peppery

TASTE: Smooth, medium body, phenolic, Asian pear, cherry taffy, green peppercorn, nutty yeast, guava, bread crust, warming alcohol, hop bitterness, semi-dry finish

Not half bad, I was hoping for a bit more carbonation, crispness and dryness but it makes due with what it has. Its a good drop and still is quite drinkable.
