I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: rich, dark red-brown with a finger of creamy tan foam. Beauty, eh?
Smell: big caramel with a little roast and a little nutty toastiness. Quite good.
Taste: toasty, nutty, caramelly and just ever so slightly roasty. Above all, it's smooth. This flavor could work well in a nut brown, too. Really very good.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a big, well-integrated carbonation. Outstanding.
Overall: this is a damn fine schwarzbier. Could maybe be a shade darker, but really, there's not a whole lot more you can ask.
