Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. This is a fresh-hop collaboration between Old Stove and Varietal Brewing. There's no ABV printed on the label, but printing on the can says this is made with Cashmere hops.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a moderate haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam atop. I think it looks damn good.
Smell: sweet malt with a relatively light hop aroma; there's an earthiness and a dankness to the hop character. Fresh, but I think the volume could be turned up a notch.
Taste: much like the aroma, I get a rather rich, caramelly malt combined with an earthy, grassy hop character. The fresh hops seem to add a sort of muddiness to the equation; it's not bad, but it doesn't blow me away.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and a great, wonderfully smooth creaminess. I really dig it!
Overall: this beer is growing on me, but I still think it could use a little cleanup or crispness or something.
