16oz tallboy can from a 4-pk gifted me by friends who I house & pet-sat for while they had a weekend in Seattle. No freshness date on the cans except a scan code of the type that I've never gotten to work with my phone. According to Ravenna's website, it's a west coast IPA brewed with Lupomax Mosaic, Amarillo, and Nelson hops.
Smells like juicy, fruity hoppiness up front. There's a whiff of a crackery maltiness in the background.
Slightly hazy golden amber color, with a decent sized off-white head. Said head left a pretty modest amount of lace.
Hop forward, with the crackery maltiness noted above deep in the background. If this is a West Coast IPA, it's very much of the "new school" approach. It's got a juicy, tropical fruitiness to it that would never be encountered in an old school West Coast IPA that was brewed with the old "C-hops." It gets a bit more bitter on the back half, where there's a decent amount of something akin to pineyness present to the taste, but it's a long way from a true old school West Coast grapefruit and pine hop bomb.
Medium bodied, with a slightly resiny mouthfeel.
While it's not really the kind of thing that someone starving for an old school West Coast IPA will exactly rejoice at, it's an extremely well drinking beer, and I could see myself having several on tap where I to encounter it thusly.
