Poured from 16oz can purchased yesterday at the brewery into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: medium golden-yellow hue with plenty of haze and a finger of ivory foam atop. A nice chunky lace is left on the glass as I drink.
Smell: sweet with a slightly earthy, slightly juicy tropical fruit aroma. Maybe kind of a mango thing going on; hard to single out individual fruits, but in any case, it’s very nice indeed.
Taste: sweet malt with an earthy, slightly astringent hop quality. There’s some nice tropicality and citrusness here, but it’s not quite as good as in the aroma.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a rich creaminess. Very nice.
Overall: I think this beer could be rounded out a little more somehow, but man, it’s darn good, and very smooth. Super drinkable for an 8.5% DIPA. A solid choice.
