A bevy of roasted and specialty malts from traditional English maltsters forge a rich and complex character that ranges from baking chocolate and coffee, to toasted marshmallow and dark cherry. Rolled oats provide the smooth and full body that this style is known for. The finish settles into a harmonious balance of roast and sweetness.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to a thick cap with nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, mild coffee and a hint of dark fruit. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt, high cacao unsweetened chocolate, drip coffee and a little fruit tartness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and a nice mouth feel. An enjoyable, basic oatmeal stout with fine chocolate character and some coffee. There are wisps of dark fruit and some mild fruit tartness in the finish. The body is excellent and creamy, just what I expect from an oatmeal stout. Lovely initial taste, but a tad of astringency in the finish. Nice to find a solid, non-adjunct stout, especially with good oat character.
