Appearance – The beer pours a deep hazy crimson red color with a small white head. The head fades relativity fast to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a slightly toasted bread aroma with a good showing of caramel. Along with these smells comes some hint of molasses and some light fruit smells as well as a tiny bit of earthy hop.
Taste – The taste begins with a caramel and toasted bready flavor, just as would be expected from the nose. Initially the taste sweetens up a bit as a little bit of a sugary taste as well as some light fruit of cherry and apple come to the tongue. The sweetness later fades slightly however as some of the light hop tastes of earth and herb come to the tongue. At the end there is a bit of a surge of the roasted and toasted tastes and with sweeter flavors fading a bit in the flavor profile overall, one is left with a light to moderately toasted malted taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in it thickness and chewiness with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. For the roasted malt and moderately sweeter tastes the feel is rather nice and creates an easy drinking brew.
Overall – A decent red that has a good blend of sweet and roast.
