a lighter pale ale, done with the now popular kveik yeast i believe, which is getting a little played out, but it lends itself well to a simple beer like this, and i think it would certainly be missing something without it, as the yeast seems to flavor this one as much as the hops do, uncommon for a pale ale, but it works. the hops are citrusy but light, a lemon note without the sharpness, a light herbal almost elderflower character, and very low bitterness. the malt base couldnt be simpler, seems just like pale barley fermented to not quite dry, a finishing sweetness is there carrying the hops along. the yeast is lightly belgian to me here, estery in a way that works with the hops, pear and banana notes, a mild juniper thing, but pretty clean by the end of it. its a bit runny and thin in feel, and the carbonation is not quite there, i wish this felt a little more lively because the flavors are there. im still back and forth on how much i like this yeast strain and sudden explosion, but it works in this beer. a little amateurish overall, but a solid recipe and relatively easy drinking.
