a neat malt forward brew here done with dates and honey as the name suggests. its not quite a brown ale, but they dont really call it an amber either, but thats probably the closest style base for this. i think this is a cool use of specialty ingredients and the beer seems more refined than a lot of their others, not overly sweet, but i can definitely appreciate both the dates and the honey in the flavor, a cool recipe for sure. deep copper colored beer that doesnt have a ton of head and ends up being a bit less carbonated than i want it to be, a common theme across a lot of their beers when i was in. the honey is floral and up front, the dates are exotic and sweet and come with raisin and fig nuance, and the malt is toasted and round and bready, all three elements come together well. the fermentation could be a little cleaner and this could be dried out some, but i like the taste of the honey and dates with this malt profile, and think they did a nice job overall. a unique brew, but still drinkable. one of their better offerings right now!
