Grunt fill from Albertsons. medium dark amber, small tight head. Muted aroma is malty, caramel. Taste amps up the hops a bit, not too extreme, about right for a NW style IPA. Middle of the pack. tasty if a little bit old school, this is both malty and bitter, a nice beer, fresh and classically styled, well made like the other beer i had in here. light copper in color, not quite clear, and with a frothy stark white head on it, nice lace as it drinks. this smells nice too, northwestern and woodsy, lots of pine resin and an intense citrus character. the malt has a sweeter almost baked nose, crystal type, but is balancing in the flavor, not making the beer sweet but keeping it from being too bitter. this is definitely a high alpha hop profile, bitter from start to finish, fresh as can be though, light pepper spiciness to it, some pithy grapefruit and lemon, and a little pine sap, a light toasted note to the grain is nice with it, and the fermentation profile is clean here, this is near dry and without much yeast character at all. a fuller medium body, nice carbonation, and pretty good bite. it tastes kind of bigger and wintery to me, a well made beer from a cool little brewery. not as distinct as i hoped it would be, but hard to argue with the quality or the recipe, this hit the mark for me.
