Ginger Beer pours rich gold and clear, with a scant almond head. The head might be creamy if only it were able to accumulate. Small, lazy carbonation rises within, while spotty lace forms a narrow ring on a PBGC Dimpled Mug.

This beer smells remarkably like Marzen with a healthy dose of fresh ginger. The ginger even tickles the nose. After initial impression, light lemon can be perceived as well.

Similar to the nose, the flavor aligns with Marzen, however the ginger is less prominent. The marriage here appears to be at the end of a shotgun. While it does work, it falls short of my hopes. The finish is long, strong, and unpleasant. Warmth does improve the beer as it takes on a spicy character similar to what one might find in wassail or a pumpkin beer.

A medium body with warn cotton texture. Carbonation is very light and there is no hint of alcohol.

My initial hopes for this beer failed to be realized. Maybe it needs more experimentation. I did finish the crowler. Sometimes blind adventures are more enjoyable for the anticipation than the actualization. The pumpkin beer reference is more than just flavor. Subtle spice flavors make it much more interesting after warmth. Similar to a pumpkin beer, I see this being appealing to a select few as a novelty, as there is something alluring to the concept.

We visited this brewery on a lark, as we had extra time while traveling. The location is stunningly beautiful, and the building was warm and inviting, fireplace and all. Being there was a great experience and the beers we tried were all generally much better than one would expect so far off the beaten path. They have a mug club that is truly special, as each mug has a ton of individual character like the people that I imagine frequent this brewery.
