L: Had this beer on-tap at Fine Creek, poured into a pint glass. Had a medium brown color and a thick texture. There was a small amount of off white, foamy, pretty long-lasting head. Decent lacing.
S: An OK aroma of malt, light fruit, molasses, and yeast.
T: Tasted of a decent bit of yeast (not too powerful), lots of toasted malt, some light fruit (apples), maybe a tinge of citrus (orange), and a hint of molasses. An interesting take on an old style. The use of molasses works to a degree, but the other elements needed a bit of a push. Fairly tasty, though.
F: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: Biere de garde is an underserved style, and Fine Creek made an effort to put a twist on it. Not perfect, but drinkable.
