On tap:
Dark brown with some mahogany highlights at the edges where the light shines through. Very light tan soapy head with some fleeting lace in the mix.

Cold beer has a generically spicy vibe, but too soon to tell. Taste also is dulled, but I get a well-toasted bread brown ale with a bit of spice. This isn’t as sweet as expected, but has a nice level that keeps it in the beer category versus a concoction that tried to be the mimicked drink.

As it warms, there’s a little tang (lactose presumably), and the spices develop a little better into a vague resemblance to the Thai tea target. It’s light as expected at 5%, which negates its ability to match the creaminess of a Thai tea, but I am quite fine with that. The nose seems to have a slightly sweet milk aspect to try to replace the feel.

I’d like to get a cleaner chance at the nose, as I think I missed some aspects with ambient aromas. But though this leaned more towards a rich brown to me, I liked it just as much or more for it.

10oz pour, tall tulip-like glass, at the brewery.

Root beer appearance with a similar vanishing head. Light can be seen through it in this glass, but probably wouldn’t in a more traditional glass.

It smells like lactose and Thai tea. I’m so excited to taste this combination of two of my favorite beverages!

Silky black tea and roast accented wonderfully by the mysterious herbs and spices so unique to Thai ice tea. It finishes so creamy that with your eyes closed you might believe it’s a Thai tea with light cream.

It’s thin and creamy with creamy cascading carbonation. There is som of that bitter aftertaste from sugar.

Milk stout is the perfect style to pair with the flavors of Thai tea. The appearance is the only lackluster piece, and the least important. Great success on melting two great things, Fine Creek!

L: Had this beer on-tap at Fine Creek, poured into a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white head that quickly dissipated. Good lacing.

S: An interesting and enticing aroma of the advertised tea, chocolate, malt, lactose, and cream.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of malt (mostly in the finish), a bit of lactose (not too much), light cream notes), lots of the advertised tea, and some milk chocolate notes. One of the more fascinating milk stout flavors. For whatever reason, the tea and chocolate work well together - I shouldn't question it. Quite tasty.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a super smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is one of those oddly endearing beers. Well worth a try.
