Formerly Relapse IPA
We made the first Cold IPA called “Relapse IPA” in October 2018 in honor of Relapse Records 30th anniversary. We were trying to make something with the elements of West-Coast IPA but taken to the extreme. We wanted something drier with excessive hoppiness but a cleaner finish. Frankly, we tried to make a style of beer that could showcase American hops in a new way. Cold IPA hits with a strong punch of aromatic hop intensity and high bitterness but finishes crisp and clean leaving the drinker craving another sip. It’s Wester than West Coast.
Malts: American Copeland Pilsner and the Choicest Rice
Hops: CTZ, Czech Saaz (for spice), Oregon Amarillo, Yakima Citra and Michigan Chinook

Clear golden pour with a medium white head. The aroma brings resin, pineapple, and a touch of malt. The flavor is hop‑forward with a firm, lingering bitterness, yet it still feels fresh and juicy.

07/11/25. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Slightly hazy bright gold with 2-finger frothy white head with good retention and solid lacing.
S: Bright pine and citrus hop aroma with pineapple, lime, orange, and white grapefruit with pine and lighter resin. Minimal esters.
T:Flavor is clean with punchy citrus hoppiness with pineapple, orange, lime, and guava with pine and lighter herbal honeysuckle notes also. Lean malt backbone provide structure and very light pils malt sweetness which meshes well. No significant esters and bitterness is not as aggressive as I expected after reading so many articles and listening to many podcasts about Cold IPA.
M: Incredibly light for the ABV with light body, moderate+ carbonation, and very dry finish. Dangerous mouthfeel - could drink many quickly.
O: Wayfinder Original Cold IPA does not disappoint as the archetype for the cold IPA style. Light body with superior drinkability but blasts of citrus, pine, and herbal hop flavors provide an awesome drinking experience.

on the edge of mindblowingly good, tastes crazy fresh even though my can appears to say its from december, this is bright and clean, punchy on the hops but not overdone, just bitter enough, dry and snappy and refreshing and even crushable for how flavorful it is, all the intangibles are here too, and overall its another winner from wayfinder, who continues to impress me every time i dip into something they brew. neat mix of hops to this, its got citrus and spice family elements working really well together, the grain is light but important here, and although i dont taste lager yeast in the classic sense, it has that briskness to it like it was indeed cold fermented, which makes the hops pop in both nose and taste to me, a really dialed beer, wish i had more than just the one can! blonde with the lightest haze and an inch plus of creamy whipped white head with excellent retention and pretty lace in my glass. subtle peach and pear in the nose, pine and juniper too, grass and hay and maybe some oat straw (which i now know what that is after making pregnancy teas for my wife of late). the flavor leads with more of a navel orange and key lime thing, a fresh from the fields hop intensity, bold but not oily or anything on the palate, a little weedy but without that gassy fuely sort of dankness, light coconut, clover honey, dry cereals underneath, and lightly bready yeast which is mild but very unifying i think, quickening and drying too. effervescent feeling, just enough body to hold the flavor, soft for having that spicy back end hop, noble bite, tea as it warms, orange though it all, each sip as good as the last and then its just gone. a style i love, the new west coast really, and this is a darn fine example of where modern ipa is at, loved it!

16oz canned 12-17-24, opened 2-15-25.
3 finger white head with very good retention and sticky lacing left behind. Straw gold body with good clarity.
Aromas of orange peel, citrus oils, peach. and light pine in the background.
Orange, melon, apricot, and pine...lots of flavor over a clean canvas.
Light body, bright entry, medium plus carbonation with a dry finish. Drinkability is high!
Very Good.

This beer pours a semi-clear golden color with a large white head (due to aging). The aroma is almost non-existent. The taste is malt and hops with a slight bitterness. Good beer, not a great beer, definitely an IPL. BOD 10-27-2023

16oz can from Tavour. I've been torn on this style, so I knew I had to try the original. Clear golden pour, with an abundant fluffy white head and streaky lacing. Hoppy aroma with some biscuity notes. Taste is sharp and hoppy, nice bitterness that sticks to the palate. Bready, light sweetness and super easy to drink. I can see why this recipe started a trend.

Pours cloudy amber in color with a fluffy white head. Nose is pure dankness. Taste was pine and slightly lemon. Great amount of bitterness, which is perfect for me. As soon as the bitterness hits it fades away.

Poured pale gold with excellent clarity; tight white head; excellent cap retention; solid ring; soapy lace. Mild almost imperceptible lemony nose. Bitter lemon peel; firm malt base. Light body; moderate minus carbonation; watery feel. Long bitter linger; crisp and clean; overall a one trick pony - just very bitter mild lemon taste.

My understanding is that this is truly the original for the style. Aromatic crisp hoppiness. Both citrusy and piney. Crisp hoppy bitter finish. Nice.

Top scores all around! I had it at the brewery after asking for a non-hazy ipa. The nice lady brought me a .5l of the clearest, most golden ray of sunshine in a glass. You know those yellow aviators you can wear that make plants look ultra green? Looking through this beer was like looking through those.
It tasted great too! Dry, danke, and crisp. It made me jizz my pants!
