2019 vintage; drank 9/2/22 @ the Yarchives.
Cloudy orange appearance.
A slow pour yielded a small white head which quickly dissipated; no lace.
Tart tangerine & oak notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Tart lemon & tangerine flavors up front; oak notes on the finish.
Fruity but balanced; this was quite tasty!

a funky saison aged 17 months in oak. i liked the beer overall, but was definitely a little bit surprised that aspects of this seemed sort of juvenile to me, like the funky elements in the yeast are still expanding, taking hold, it tastes almost young from a brett standpoint, even though the beer itself smells and tastes woody and well aged. a cool combination of flavors here and relatively complex for not having a ton of crazy ingredients in it or anything, but i really thought this would be quite a bit more dry and wild tasting. pale and hazy from the bottle, with a short lived blast of here and gone fizzy white head. aroma is preserved lemons, a little bacterial tang, white wine, and hearty woody oak, a little vanilla from it, and a little musty brett as well. some hay and straw in there with the wheat in the taste, some cheerio cereal dust character there too, which goes along with my this is still kind of new tasting observation. notes of citrus and oak all the way through it, a light gin botanical thing which is cool, and the almost doughy yeast, a pineapple ester at the end as it warms too. fine carbonation and relative dryness, good overall, but i wanted a lot more compelling funky profile to this, maybe it just needs some cellar time now. i should have picked up a bottle to go, now i may never know...
