First review of this beer on BA.
Picked up a can of this I think from Berkeley Bowl. Has a lightly hazy golden exterior/interior with 1/3" white head. The aroma immediately made me think there was more Loral and Simcoe than Citra here. Just wasn't all that aromatic, had some of those pine tree notes, but not really the candied tangerine feel like Citra can when in significant numbers.
Taste was a bit better still lead by the bittering (apparently) hops of Simcoe and Loral. The body is only 8% flaked so that would explain the lack of totally shitty optics on the beer as well as the relatively normal amounts of bitterness for an ipa. All that combines for a more west coast typical dry and light mouth feel on the beer that is its high point compared to the let down of the nose and to a lesser degree the taste when you compare it to the commercial tug job you get from the brewery about the Citra hop.
At the end of the day its a good beer that doesn't live up to what they say it is.
