Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to moderately hazy, medium golden amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, lemon, passion fruit, mango and a touch of dankness. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and dank hops, grapefruit, green melon, green onion and vague mixed fruit and kiwi. Good dose of alpha oil bitterness with residual dankness in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The blurb says it's a West Coast style IPA, but the citrus and pine from that style are minor elements of the profile here. The hop bill is definitely New Zealand in character, with fruit flavors that are hard to pin down. Interesting, but busy flavors, but makes up for it for me with a good dose of hop bitterness in the finish. I wouldn't get this if I was in the mood for a WC IPA, but certainly fills the bill for something flavorful and hoppy.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a low to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Moderate aromas of grapefruit and gooseberry are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a moderate amount of bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
O: The grapefruit aromas and flavors of this beer make it taste like a West Coast IPA and the gooseberry from the Nelson hops add a New Zealand accent.

Clear yellow gold brew with fine-grained foam in the Leute Bokbier glass. For some reason the label describes this as "Hazy West Coast Double IPA." Just as well. Brewed with Nelson, Riwaka, and Cascade hops from New Zealand. Aroma of orange rind and pine with a whiff of onions.
Flavors of peach, cedar, pineapple, and green melon. Quite hot with alcohol and moderate acidity, along with distinct malty sweetness. Woody aftertaste and seriosly bitter. Sippable, but it's a major assault of hops. From the 16 oz can shipped from City Beer.
