It takes a bushel of lemons to say I love you. We updated the classic Belgian style with the addition of lemon zest and Amarillo hops. This one is smooth and creamy, with tropical fruit and peach notes, ending in a balanced bitterness.

A: Pours a slightly hazy pale to medium golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate straw yellow + bright yellow + lemon yellow colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy creamy foamy bright white head that reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of pale + biscuit + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness underneath moderate aromas of slightly spicy saison yeast and citrus/lemon zest. Hints of light fruits (pear + white grape).

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of pale + biscuit + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by very light flavors of light fruits (pear + white grape). Finally there is a slightly stronger than moderate flavor of slightly spicy saison yeast and citrus/lemon zest. There is a light amount of bitterness that slowly fades away.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable with classic saison flavors + aromas and a pleasant addition of lemon zest.

a clean saison with lemon peel, i like it more and more is it warms up in the glass, a cool beer overall, but a little more simple and subtle than i think i was expecting, and next to some of the more robustly flavored beers in here, it wasnt a standout, as much as its professionally done and all of that. clear from the tap with a smallish head on it, visible bubbles and a honey sheen to it. smells and tastes only lightly like lemon, i think this element is an accent at the most and could be ratcheted up a little bit, but the minimal nature of it leaves a lot of space for the simple wheat malt and mellow saison yeast to flavor the beer. i think this could also benefit from a dry hopping of some citrusy persuasion to sort of play on what the lemon teases, but the whole second half of this is just sort of absent for me. i like it being minimal because its drinkable and refreshing, warm weather slammer status, but it leaves a little complexity to be desired. i also think this would be cool with a mature brett pitch, aged in a gin barrel, or spiked with strawberries or wine grapes or something, seems more of a foundation to me than a finished product in some ways, but like all the beers in here, the quality is there for sure. i would have liked this better i think if i didnt have a ton of really unique and strongly flavored beers in here during the same session. it wasnt a standout in that context, but i liked it quite well overall.

On tap at Fifth Hammer, Queens, NY.
Pours a cloudy golden color with a moderate head. Decent retention.
Aroma opens with a light earthy funk. This is followed by the development of lemon zest that goes on to dominate both aroma and taste. Other aromas include, pear, peach, melon, biscuity malts and grass.
Dry palate with fruity flavors that evoke peach, crackery malt, and moderate peppery phenols. The lemon zest, as afore mentioned, is the centerpiece. It adds a citrusy brightness, as well as a light sweet tartness.
Medium bodied, crisp and with a dry finish. Carbonation is effervescent and on point.
I enjoyed this quite a bit and feel like it really nailed the style.
