Canned on 8/28/23; consumed on 10/30/23
Pours a murky, dirt-copper body capped with multiple fingers of cascading, sudsy, off-beige foam; decent head retention yields a finger of creamy cap, frothy collar, and myriad rings of chunky lacing surrounding the walls of the glass.
Aromas of clove and allspice open, with subtle pumpkin and a mineralic tinge growing; airy vanilla amplifies richness over modest breadiness, while subdued wafts of ginger strike as the bouquet fades.
Taste brings slight clove upfront and a building pumpkin over tone over the mid-palate, with airs of vanilla and pie crust imparting a gentle depth to the notes of soft char and shaved ginger lingering into the finish.
Mouthfeel features a medium body, flaky texture, and a taut fluff of moderate carbonation; modest grit evolves over the mid-palate and through the back end, drying steadily with a distant suggestion of roast firming the swallow to crispness.
Diversity in spice leads a coherent presentation of consistent autumnal sensations, and while the profile doesn't firm to its full potential, this is nonetheless a solid pumpkin ale.
