Equal parts smoothie and sour ale, Baa Baa Brewhouse has a hard time being ninja while being neon. Radiating with the fruits of strawberry, red currant, raspberry and pomegranate, this sour ale is anything but stealthy.
Dark red, mauve and maroon, Neo Red Smooth Ninja patiently releases a loose and racy pink froth with a strong fruit perfume that hinges on fruit rollup, jam and jello. With a tart twinge of the nose, a slim sour, cidery and winey tone offsets the fruity perfume. Sweet on the tongue, its jammy proportions saturate the tastebuds are awaken by fruity sweetness, pastry richness and a cereal coated maltiness.
As the fruits unfold, its the red berries trend juicy, radiant and concentrated with fruit puree. With the underpinnings of lime, lemon, gooseberry, crabapple and red wine offering a sour balance to the fruit, the fruit acidity comes with a peppery balance from fruit pectins, skins and seeds.
Full bodied for sour ale, the rich and fruity sourness is creamy from start to finish. Delicious in its taste, the body is off-dry and short of refreshing. Basically a tart cobbler in a glass, the beer finishes fruity-sour and with a long linger of jello and red wine.
