A beer for my beauty wife, who likes to keep light and refreshing saisons with mild spice and fruit character stocked in our fridge. This seasonally influenced saison features rotating ingredients grown here on our farm. In addition to using our 100% estate-grown hops, this current version, bottled 9/20/2017 is brewed with FRESH Tettnang hops from our farm, adding spicy and green grass notes to the beer.
Mo’s Saison was selected as a finalist for “Best Saison in Washington State” in the July 2017 issue of Seattle Magazine!

The mouthfeel is like biting into clouds of carbonation, which I happen to like in a Belgian style brew with that yeasty edge. Actually it's less yeasty than a lot of beers in this category, so I'd call it more of the Farmhouse style-- lighter and less intensely flavored.
The label notes this is brewed with "farm grown Tettnang hops." I read they are growing 50% of their brewing hops themselves, so that must mean their own farm. They also mention rosemary and sage. Fortunately I don't taste the stuff, but as it warms the aroma is distinctly tinged with something herbal.
Overall this is totally drinkable with subtle flavors. Some acidity in the finish. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a quite hazy medium orange, with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, saison yeast, a touch of orange, a bit woody and earthy and a hint of funk. Flavor is grainy malt, saison yeast, apples, pears, muted light stone fruit, some dark berry on the back of the tongue. Finishes with earthy grain and residual fruit, with just a touch of tartness. Medium bodied with sharp carbonation. A nice, semi-dry fruity saison. The grain body is not as robust as Grange, but blends well with the lighter light fruit flavors. Refreshing and light, and very much in character for a farmhouse ale.
