1st review of this beer on BA. Consumed January 2020 on the shores of the Humboldt River.
Pours a true to its namesake, hazy yellow leaning into a darker gold color. Thinner 1/4" white head. Aroma of mostly Citra/citrus going on.
Taste goes with the Simcoe hop pushing a pithy grapefruit like bitterness alongside the lighter sweeter citrus notes. I always find it interesting when you go into a hazy ipa with Simcoe as its main hop, where the beer lands quality wise can be all over the place when it follows as such. This was actually more average than the polarity historically comes across. Not sure what Meridian hops did here, just nothing specific enough taste wise to differentiate it from Citra and Simcoe. The bitterness from Simcoe made this feel like it wasn't a hazy despite the appearance.
Decent enough beer but in these halcyon ipa days, do you settle for good enough? Didn't know Chapman had a brewery, but now I'm in the know.
