Beautiful, lovely Doppelbock. Full of flavor, from nutty and yeasty notes to a wealth of dark bread tones. A touch of minerality adds depth. Drinks exceptionally clean for nearly 8% ABV, but at the same time, it's clearly a "big" beer.

Pours a beautiful nut brown, fluffy tan head is generous and firm. Slowly it recedes, leaving a thin cap that is pretty solid. Great, chunky lacing.
Nose is good for style, but less sweet than I expect for style. Not a bad thing. It's got the brown bread notes with undertones of toffee, figs, brown sugar.
Flavor is slightly more sweet, but again less than I expect for style. Having said that, I'm digging this. It has all of the components outside of the sweeter characteristics, and yes there is still toffee, caramel, figs, raisin, burnt malt, rich brown bread, etc... But they are tamed a by a round, slightly toasty malt note.
Mouthfeel is a tad thinner than I associate with a doppel. But only slightly.
Overall, this is a more sessional doppelbock in my book.
