Bottle from the brewery. Thanks Evelyn! Served in a Bellwoods snifter.
A - Pours with a voluminous white foam that settles to a solid cap, thicker collar, and splotches of lace. Hazy, but not New England hazy, golden orange body.
S - Punchy, aromatic, tropical hop aroma. Sugary malt backbone. Balanced in a Midwest sort of way, with lots of hop character integrating with a saccharine malt character. Light hints of citrus and pine in the periphery, but very fruit heavy.
T - Taste is nice, but not quite as rich as the aroma. A bit more bitterness and astringency in the finish, with grapefruit rind and more bready malts mid-palate. Could use a tiny bit more sweetness here.
M - Medium body, dry and slightly grainy texture. No perceptible alcohol, pleasant moderate carbonation, crisp finish.
D - I liked New Wave, and I like Double Dry Hopped New Wave even more. Probably my favorite hoppy brew from Halo (although the sour IPA was quite nice too). Hopefully this finds its way into their regular brew rotation. Split a bottle 3 ways at work and wish I had it all to myself.
