Gravel Run pours clear and gold with a body reminiscent of a copper sunset. The unmistakable burst of hops immediately fills your palate. Vibrant citrus shows off with orange, peach and lime juices and a bright tropical burst of pineapple and lychee follow suit. Sweet pine flavours hit the edge of your tongue with gentle bitterness on a lightly honeyed and caramel malt base. Light and easy with a soft body and focused finish.

Hazy, almost milky apricot colour. Short lived moderate head settles to a film and a ring, a little spotty lace. Weirdly fruity, fishy smell? Not so delicious that way. Soft, thin bodied mouth feel. Undistinctive flavour profile. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Nothing special.

The beer pours a very hazy golden colour, but with no discernible bits floating in it that I have seen with some unfiltered beers. There is a medium white head that disappears fairly quickly. The smell to me was of mild citrous. Tasting confirmed this, with a pleasant mild to medium citrous flavour well balanced by a medium hopiness of the beer. This one I liked better than expected, but I am partial to citrousy beers.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Feb 22 2019 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a slightly foggy golden-amber colour, topped with nearly one finger of foamy white head that sizzles off within the next two minutes; a wide, frothy collar is left in its place. Lacing's a bit scant, but it looks fine. Smells fruity - lychee and canned peaches in syrup come to mind, with added hints of cantaloupe, orange peel, floral hops and pine resin. Its grainy, bready malt spine is discernible, but not a major factor (at least on the nose).

A fine little session IPA. Most of what I said about the aroma still applies here - including the subtle grainy pale malt backdrop - though I'm also getting a fair bit more of that mandarin orange and grapefruit here, to go along with the stone fruit and cantaloupe. Notes of citrus pith build towards the back end, which features some floral, slightly resiny hop bitterness that persists briefly before fading into a drying aftertaste. Light in body, with good carbonation levels that spritz up the mouthfeel nicely, resulting in a crisp, refreshing brew that (I suspect) will really hit the spot on a hot summer's afternoon.

Final Grade: 3.73, a B grade. Cowbell's Gravel Run didn't exactly blow my mind, but there's no doubt that it's a reasonably good session IPA that, while not distinctly superior, is at least on par with much of its competition in this province. These "light IPAs" are not really my thing, so I doubt I'll be returning to this regularly - frankly I'd prefer one of their Doc Perdue beers over this one - but the truth is that I can't find much to complain about here, either. It's fine for what it is, and if you're looking for something light and hoppy, it's absolutely worth a go.

Pours a dark gold colour with a nice but loose head. Bready and earthy on the nose. The taste is mildly bitter with light citrus notes. A little sweet also. A pretty flavourful session IPA
