At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From last winter's Winter Mixer boxset at University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. Canned October 19/24. My 12th beer from the Blyth, Ontario brewery, and 6th for 2025. Recommended by both Gracie and Sundae the cats...

473 mL nitro can from the LCBO, included in Cowbell's Winter Mixer six-pack. Based on the volume of liquid that I actually got out of this can, I think it's actually 404 mL (like the rest of Cowbell's nitro cans). Dated Sep 19 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours a pitch black colour with glints of burgundy around the edges; it takes a few seconds for nearly an inch of bubbly, sudsy beige head to rise to the surface, lasting for more than five minutes. A creamy eighth-inch cap and collar last considerably longer, with a generous coat of lace clinging to the glass. The first sniff immediately reminded me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, so good job in that respect. Dark chocolate, peppermint, caramel and roasted malts make for a rather sweet yet enticing aroma.
The flavours are appealing, though the mint extract becomes more tiresome over the course of the glass. Dark chocolate and peppermint run roughshod over the remainder of the profile, which includes hints of cocoa, roasted malts, caramel and oats. Minty chocolate finish, with bitter dark chocolate carrying on into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with weak carbonation that rolls softly across the tongue; the mouthfeel is smooth and silky, making this strong sweet stout more drinkable than I'd have expected. Even still, one can per night is plenty.
Final Grade: 3.78, a B+. Mint Chocolate Chip Nitro Stout is reasonably tasty, though I feel as if Cowbell might've overplayed the mint flavouring just a bit. At 6.8%, the excess alcohol does help to integrate it to some extent, but at the end of the day this is still a heavily flavoured beer, giving it an unshakeably artificial and/or 'fake' vibe that may not appeal to everyone. It's better than the previous year's Creme Brulee Nitro Stout, but it's not something I'd be interested in drinking more than once or twice per year.
